Named in honour of Madame Alice Mugwe, the coordinator of the food program for the last 6 years, a new kitchen, called a "jiko" has been built at Barani Primary School in Mtwapa, Kenya, to feed 550 students per day. This replaces the old building with a fire on the cement floor, and no way to carry the smoke out except through the windows. The new jiko has more secure fire and cooking surface and proper chimneys.
